Essential to keep your hands, nails, and skin protected from the elements. You’ll have a variety to choose from, but the two types we like the most at GL365 are nitrile coated garden gloves and general purpose utility gloves.

2. BROOM

Necessary for most clean-up jobs, particularly on driveways, patios, sidewalks and in garages. You’ll want either a push or long handle broom to get the fine debris certain to linger in cracks and crevices.

3. DIGGING SHOVEL

Helpful for most planting projects, especially for digging in large plants, trees, and shrubs. This handy tool will move large amounts of dirt in one dig.

Desirable for pruning and maintaining the shape of small shrubs and trees. You’ll want these sturdy little hand cutters to keep your plants formed nicely. Hand pruners are also best for deadheading plants (removing dead flower buds) and cutting small branches.

5. RAKE

While there are different types of rakes, you’ll want a leaf rake to get started. Leaf rakes are the most common and help collect, gather, or move debris, such as fallen leaves or cut grass. These rakes come in different materials, like metal or plastic. Both types of rakes are functional depending on the job, but we suggest starting with a lightweight plastic rake for light jobs.

6. HEAVY DUTY YARD BAGS

Heavy-duty bags are vital during yard clean-up, particularly when bagging heavy debris, such as tree limbs, wet leaves, or cut grass. Heavy-duty bags come in plastic or paper and are desirable in communities that require waste to be collected. Having sturdy bags can save you time, money, and effort by reducing or preventing problems like double-bagging or using more bags than necessary.

7. HOSE WITH MULTI-PATTERN SPRAY NOZZLE ATTACHMENT

After planting, new and existing plants will need to be watered. A garden hose is useful for watering several plants to avoid going back and forth to the water source. Having a multi-pattern spray nozzle assists with watering the entire plant and helps protect plants with delicate flowers or leaves. The multi-pattern tool offers various settings to control the water flow.

8. HAND TROWEL

When you need to move a small amount of matter (i.e., dirt, soil, etc.), a hand trowel works well. Whether digging a small hole or potting a plant, hand trowels are extremely useful. They come in various shapes and sizes and often have a serrated edge, which we at GL365 recommend and love.

9. HAND SCOOPER

Scoopers are another helpful hand tool, enabling easy movement of loose matter, such as soils and fertilizers. The shape and size of the scooper allow transferring large quantities of materials to be moved easily, without the mess.

Soils are critical when planting. Whether garden or potting soil, these products add additional nutrients to the existing matter plants are being planted in. These extra nutrients help plants grow and thrive.
