GLOVES

Why Gloves are Needed:
Depending on the person, gloves are somewhat optional. We say that because some people want to feel the earth and elements as they garden. However, we recommend using gloves because they keep your hands, nails, and skin protected.
Gardening involves a lot of digging, so gloves help stop dirt and other matter from collecting under your nails. Without gloves, you’ll spend extra time washing and cleaning your hands, which is time-consuming and could be spent on other tasks. Not to mention, dirt can be hard to remove from under the nail beds. When left unattended, bacteria can grow and cause problems on your nails and skin.
We also recommend gloves to help protect your nails and skin from cuts or damage from foreign objects, bacteria, or bugs in the ground. Using gloves also helps prevent chaffing from excess water exposure.
NOTE: As a reminder, we are not doctors at GL365, so please follow what your medical professionals tell you and what works best for you. However, we always want to encourage you to garden efficiently and with safety in mind.
Types of Gloves:
There are a variety of gloves to choose from, including reinforced and non-reinforced gloves made from leather, rubber, cotton, and other materials. The gloves we prefer at GL365 are reinforced gloves. One type of reinforced glove is the traditional or general-purpose gardening glove with reinforced padding. The other is a nitrile-coated gardening glove great for wet projects. Both gloves provide a contoured fit that allows you to feel what you are working with, as if with bare hands. Both are easy to clean and very durable.

Traditional or general-purpose gardening gloves are available in various colors, patterns, fabrics, and styles. We love the fabric gloves with reinforced fingertips and palms because they offer added protection for digging or cutting projects. The reinforced material helps guard against sharp foreign objects, rocks, or thorny vines you may encounter. They also provide durability and grip, especially when carrying items.

Nitrile or polyurethane-coated gloves are lightweight and breathable, with the coating providing reinforcement around the fingertips and palms. The nitrile coating is generally flexible and thin yet durable enough to prevent punctures and holes. The nitrile coating is a great choice to keep your hands drier than most other gloves, especially involving projects with water or muddy, wet soil.
