String Lights
String lights are one of our favorite garden treasures. While most people only think of using lights during holiday seasons, we love to use them year-round. Adding string lights can change the ambiance of your outdoor spaces and are an effective, low-cost light source. We prefer LED lights and use a combination of light styles in our garden spaces. We use mini LED lights for our tree trunks and branches and mix in LED-Edison lights to string across the patio and deck areas. This provides a beautiful, elegant look with a warm cozy feeling.
But, there are many light styles to choose from depending on what you need for your space. While we prefer LED bulbs since they last longer and are more energy-efficient, incandescent bulbs are available too. Weatherproof bulbs are a must, but a shatter-proof bulb is also a good investment. String lights can be battery-powered or solar if a plug is unavailable or inconvenient. You can enjoy string lights on patios, gazebos, pergolas, and balconies. But they are also beautiful under patio umbrellas, used as a curtain light-effect, and for decorating trees, lanterns, tables, and much more.
