You’ve probably heard the terms evergreen or deciduous when people refer to certain trees and shrubs. Since these may not be familiar terms, we have provided the definition for each. Dictionary.com defines these words as follows:

Evergreen
“Having green leaves throughout the entire year.”
Deciduous
Tree and shrub leaves, “falling off or shedding at a particular season.”

Since you will see these terms, again and again, understanding what they mean is helpful when buying and caring for your plants. An easy way to remember is evergreens stay green or are always green. Deciduous plants lose leaves and have bare branches that remain during the colder months.
