HOW PROTEIN HELPS YOU RECOVER AFTER GARDENING

Rest is only one essential component of recovery after exercise. Your diet also plays an important part. These two elements ensure your body has the best chance for recovery.

But listening to your body and knowing when to stop is also key. You should stop before you feel overly tired or have aches and pains. Although, if you are exhausted, you must get the rest your body needs. You’ll also require vital nutrients to recover. So, what type of foods help with this process?

Protein, protein, protein! We love it after regular fitness exercises. Protein helps your body recover after weights, cardio, and other strength training activities. It also assists with preventing injury or fatigue when involved in strenuous activities during gardening or landscaping projects.

Since we engage in gardening and fitness activities daily, we supplement with protein everyday. Protein bars and shakes help between meals and can occasionally replace them. We do this because having enough protein helps repair and strengthen muscles and assists in weight loss. Most people get an adequate amount of protein from their regular diet. But, depending on your daily food intake, age, activity level, and a few other factors, more protein may be needed to help with recovery.

In addition to taking in enough protein, you should focus on staying hydrated with water, eating complex carbs, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Learn more about how these items help fuel your diet with the nutrients you need to recover on Friday, June 3rd.
